Today, virtually all layout plans are still generated using 2D CAD systems, even though the individual plant equipment components are designed as 3D objects. This system and medium discontinuity represents an obstacle to end-to-end automation, degrades quality and can result in substantial follow-on costs. Companies have retained 2D-based planning for so long because to date, 3D layout planning have generally been complex and time-consuming to generate.
The Solidworks Solution Partner product Lino® 3D layout was developed in-house at Lino. Featuring single-window integration in the Solidworks 3D CAD system, it offers functions for generating, positioning and arranging plant equipment, machines and products. Together with the Tacton Design Automation configurator, it enables you to exploit the full potential of 3D layout planning in Solidworks.
This add-on supports users by maintaining a collection of intelligent function models with rule sets and makes the available linkage possibilities between the plant components visible. The integrated library permits searches for required machine components, either in full-text mode or via a hierarchic structure. Your sales team can now generate 3D layout plans for complex machines right at the customer site and illustrate them in 3D. In the event of an order, the data is transferred directly to the designers.
