At that point, it becomes clear that the image represented only one out of hundreds of possible configurations. Everything else is left to be clarified over the phone. Companies that sell highly configurable products using static visuals shift the actual configuration work into the minds of the customer and the sales engineer. And that is precisely where misunderstandings arise — misunderstandings that later return as complaints.

Why a Rendering Is Not Enough: One Visualization Instead of Hundreds of Individual Images

A rendering shows exactly one state: the one for which it was created. For a machine with hundreds of possible combinations of drive, dimensions, and equipment, the sales team would therefore have to maintain hundreds of images to achieve anything close to full coverage. In practice, no one does this. Instead, sales teams show a similar variant and hope that the customer mentally fills in the differences. 3D web visualization solves this problem at its source: a parametric 3D model responds directly to configuration data and runs via WebGL in the browser, without plugins and without installation. Hundreds of individually maintained images are replaced by a single visualization capable of displaying every variant.

Under the Hood: Only Surface Geometry Leaves the Company

A common objection is that sensitive engineering data must not be exposed on the web. That is correct — and this is exactly why 3D web visualization transmits only the surface geometry. Calculations, tolerances, and internal design logic remain where they belong: within the company’s own systems. The argument against web visualization is therefore no longer a technical risk, but an outdated assumption that nevertheless persists in many sales departments.

Not a Coincidence, but a Systematic Effect: Fewer Complaints Through Live Visualization

For machines with many equipment options, such as systems for web guiding in manufacturing, the principle proves itself in practice: when the customer and sales team see the same visualization before an order is signed, technical complaints caused by misunderstandings are noticeably reduced. This is not a coincidence, but the logical result of aligning configuration and visualization. Companies that continue to rely on PDF catalogs forgo precisely this alignment and pay for it through additional queries, longer sales cycles, and complaints.

Webinar Notice:

If you would like to learn how this web visualization can be combined with a modular product structure, you will find answers in our webinars.

<g clip-path="url(#clip0_7050_7294)">

</g>
<defs>
<clipPath id="clip0_7050_7294">
<rect width="24" height="24" fill="white"/>
</clipPath>
</defs>

          WEBINARS

Online

        22.
