Research Funding for Lino® Hub

Approved research funding for the years 2020 to 2026 recognizes the significance and technological innovation strength of Lino GmbH in the field of Industry 4.0

Since its founding in 2007, Lino GmbH has followed its slogan “Leading Innovation” by working with industrial customers to unlock sustainable optimization potential. In July 2024, the Certification Office for Research Grants (Bescheinigungsstelle Forschungszulage GbR, BSFZ), acting on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, confirmed the eligibility of Lino’s application for the development project launched in 2020. The first modules of the overall solution are scheduled to be marketed from October 2024. Additional features are expected to be developed by the end of 2026. Lino’s own published material states that the approved funding covers the years 2020 to 2026 and that the company sees Lino Hub as a key building block for industrial digital transformation.

The application concerns the development of a web-based, modular platform that uses an innovative bottom-up concept. This makes it possible to create and manage complex 3D geometries and convert their data using the customer’s configurators or systems. Lino’s published description of Lino Hub emphasizes modular integration, configuration, and the transfer of product information across systems and web environments.

Key aspects of the development project include:

  • Development of a modular platform and a unified, dynamic data model for universal use of individual core modules.
  • Reduction of data volumes and possible conversion of rule sets and 3D CAD data into web format.
  • Use of integrated test scenarios.
  • Improved connectivity to the software products used by customers.
  • Versioning and modularization of components and products.
  • A user-friendly administration tool for data maintenance, product planning, and documentation. Lino’s product pages and news items describe Lino Hub as an integration platform designed to connect systems such as CPQ, CRM, ERP, PDM/PLM, PIM, CAD, and web shops.

Lino Hub offers a universal configuration solution that can be flexibly integrated into existing system landscapes such as CPQ, configurators, CRM, websites, web shops, ERP, PDM/PLM, PIM, CAD, and CAM. The platform is intended to assemble different systems based on 3D objects and to simplify information exchange between programs. This improves connectivity, reduces processing and manufacturing steps, and shortens quotation and order processes. Customers can use 3D objects from CAD applications directly in web-based configurators and assemble products in the browser, optionally with integrated 3D visualization. Lino describes this as enabling end-to-end, automated processes between sales, engineering, and manufacturing.

With Lino Hub, Lino GmbH provides a crucial software building block for the digital transformation of industrial companies.
